Cootacraft was established early 2004 in Mallacoota, Australia. Mallacoota is a very small isolated rural community on the east coast of Victoria, where the majority of the Eastern zone abalone licences are worked.
Cootacraft began with the 13ft Little Ram, designed and built in a tiny workshop, it's a small fibreglass boat that was capable of handing surf conditions and offshore fishing. It's a boat that can be launched and retreived off the beach with ease allowing customers more opportunities to go fishing. With it's deep vee and structural toughness it has become very popular.
Next came the 18ft Gun Shot, after moving up out of the tiny workshop where our molds were completed, we then moved into our new bigger workshop ready to start building with enough room to lay out mutiple moulds. Gun Shot was designed and built for Australia's tough Southern offshore conditions. It's a deep vee soft riding hull half cabin with a wave breaker, which can be used for Commercial or Recreational fishing. Continuing with the same high structural standards and built to Marine Safety Victoria Standards, this model is ideal for offshore fishing, whether it is commercial fishing, game fishing, spear fishing, leisure activities or just to get dinner. It's very popular among the serious offshore fisherman.
The 21ft Big Ram is the latest in our Cootacraft range and is built to the same exacting high standards and hull design. It's a deep vee soft riding hull half cabin with the option of either a wave breaker or windscreen. Built to Marine Safety Victoria Standards, it is suitable for Commercial or Recreational fishing. This one has filled many offshore fishermen with envy and they just can't wait to get into one.
We have no corporate pressure to produce cheap, mass market boats. There is only a fanatical obsession with building boats the right way for a limited number of customers. Boats that are designed and built for offshore conditions as they exist in the real world - not magazine articles.
